Do you know what you can or cannot eat in braces?

Wearing orthodontic appliances does not mean living on mashed potatoes and soft foods throughout treatment. Knowing what foods can and cannot be eaten will help you achieve the best results after completing dental curves.

Fruits

Fruits are an important part of eating healthy. It is recommended to eat 300 grams of fruit daily. It is a great product for your health that is very important for everyone, even if you wear a bite corrector. Solid fruits such as apples can be very difficult to bite because of the metal structure on the teeth. Unripe pears and peaches can also cause the same problems.

Vegetables

Vegetables give us vitamins and minerals that are necessary for a growing body, especially for pregnant women. A person should consume a third of vegetables from the total amount of food. Like fruits, vegetables need to be cooked a little differently for people who wear a tooth straightener.

Most vegetables can be enjoyed boiled or stewed, because cooking automatically softens it. Hard, raw vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower, broccoli before cooking cut into small pieces that can be easily chewed with your back teeth. If you have problems eating your favorite raw vegetables, try them canned.

Cereal

But, there are several types of cereal products with which brackets need to be careful. For example, trying to eat a hard crust of bread or a bagel can cause difficulties for someone who wears braces. In such cases, it is better to soak such food in warm water or crumble into small pieces. Also, avoid small seeds and grains. They often get stuck between the teeth and are very difficult to pull out of there.

Dairy products

Strong bones and teeth will be only in those whose diet is high in calcium. Dairy products give us calcium, vitamin D, potassium and even protein. Such products are an excellent choice for braces owners, because most of them are soft and require almost no chewing.

Choose from dairy products: skim milk, low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt. If you are lactose intolerant, soy dairy products are a great alternative to regular dairy products that are also soft and easy on braces. While eating curd, you may find that it gets stuck between the braces and teeth. If this is the case, cut the cheese into small pieces, or buy a product that doesn’t stick to your teeth.

Meat

Meat provides us with protein and iron – which are especially necessary for a growing body. Eating meat is a particular problem for brace wearers because it is a fibrous product that is difficult to chew. Sinewy meat will often get stuck in them, or between the teeth. Eating meat straight from the bones, such as chicken wings and ribs, can be dangerous for your braces because you risk breaking them.

Choose lean, tender cuts of meat and cut them into small pieces before eating. Also, separate the meat from the bone prior to eating. Eat fish, chicken, lean beef, and pork. Tofu is also a good vegetarian choice as it is soft.

Nuts and seeds

This point is more for vegetarians. After all, it is they who most of all eat nuts and seeds, thus replacing the lack of meat and milk protein. Eating nuts and seeds can be a very difficult process for people with a mouth bite corrector. Nuts and seeds are very difficult to chew and are very small – these are two problems in one product.

Sweets

Sweets do not belong to a separate food group, but they have become an integral part of our life. Let’s face it, most people love candy. For the wearer of the bite corrector, eating candy can destroy the surface of the teeth. Candies can be divided into two groups: hard and sticky. Pieces of butterscotch sticking to wires can easily break them. Tough, chocolate-covered nuts can damage them as well. Gummies can bend orthodontic wires and get stuck under your braces.

Prevent damage to orthodontic wires, ligatures, and protect your teeth from caries while correcting your bite – this is your main task!
